Office Hours this Week Are: 2-4PM Tuesday Feb 3 in Room Pearl 313

Hi Class. The office hour location that is on your syllabus is changed. You can find me this Tuesday (tomorrow) in the Pearl Building (not the Cafeteria) Room 313.

I am not sure at what “desk” you can find me, so just look around or on the board. This is a new office room, and it’s the first time I’m using it.

You show up any time and see me and talk, ask questions, whatever you need.

2pm-4pm.

Great work last class.

Your Second Assignment(s) Due Feb 3

1. What to do: Continue to do your “Inner/Outer” dialogues in transit; now, note the “setting” briefly — the time, date, where you are (location) are all helpful facts — for each time you write, so that we get a sense of where you are.

Length?: No specific length. You heard what other people have already done — and how good it was. Feel free to do more, if you wish. Or pick at least two different occasions on which to write.

2. What else to do: Also, on your way to school on Feb 3 — start to write before you get to class; tell us how your morning is going; you can describe what’s happening around you much like the Inner/Outer work you’ve been doing, if you like, as long as it’s on Feb 3rd.

Length?: No specific length. This can be brief. Just come in to class with something already written to read to us aloud.

(As we discussed, these sorts of handwritten assignments will be going in your Writer’s Journal which which the professor will check periodically over the semester.)

Your First Assignment. Due Jan 29.

Assignment Name: “Inner/Outer Dialogues”

Where you do do this: You write in transit (on the subway, bus, waiting for the train — or, if you are not ever in transit, then in a public place).

What you do: Write what you hear outside you; write what you hear inside you.

Length?: No specific length. However, you ought to have enough material. So do this for at least two different “rides”/occasions.

Typed?: No. Handwritten. (You will need a notebook and a pen or pencil.)*

*(Yes, you may also use your phone to write, if you wish, but you need to be able to read it back easily.)

Also, don’t forget to make a circle when you come into class. : )
