Diary Entry 2 Kebeon “What’s been Happening”

It seem the country has gone in a deeper stage of hysteria due to the rise in coronavirus cases. I witness first hand how people are reacting to the mandatory self quarantine. Being able to survive being inside for days, maybe weeks or months seem to be the biggest cause of ruction in the nation. I see how people who know the right information react versus persons who react to everything that is said or seen in media , wether it is social media or other mediums used to broadcast information. I work in a supermarket, actually Fairway Market in the Littleneck area and for the past three days work has been extremely overwhelming. I have been working longer shifts just to help contain the huge amount of traffic in the supermarket. I have seen people being extremely inconsiderate to the fact that they are not the only ones dealing with this pandemic. The effects are nationwide and the fact people from every class need to have supplies in their home incase there is a nationwide lockdown should be considered by everyone when grocery shopping. There has been so much excessive buying that the shelves cannot stay stocked and water is becoming a scarce as gold. I feel like people should be more considerate to the fact that other people are in the same situation and also need to get supplies for their families and them.

I agree with you! People don’t need to over stock on supplies but sadly to cause a chain of I need it now attitude. Stay safe.

I find it very weird that people are stocking up with bottled water and toilet paper. Why do people need bottled water if everyone has access to tap water?
    Also, stay safe while working.

I believe that we should just stock what we need rather than creating a shortage for others by buying more than what our families need. I saw a family buy over 36 strays of eggs, is that really necessary?

I actually went to fairway the other day by Ralph Avenue, I wanted some bounty towels and they were all gone. The funny thing is I saw them earlier in the morning and came back in the evening when they went out of stock. Smh

I agree with the fact that people believe what a man or woman wearing expensive clothing say rather than getting information the hard and rewarding way by researching areas of expertise on the field. Many people just repeat what is said to them on social media or what someone else says without doing the mandatory research that people need to do in order to fully understand and calm the hysteria of this outbreak
