Fictitious

Fictitious (adjective)

Definition: Not real or true

Source: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fictitious

Found in: Mina Loy “Feminist Manifesto” (12th paragraph)

Quote: “The fictitious value of a woman as identified with her physical purity—is too easy to stand-by—.”

I fully understand the meaning of the word fictitious now when Loy was trying to imply that value of women and their identities have been fabricated.
