Intro to assignment / theme

Shake Station is a casual restaurant that serves mostly grilled food from burgers to chicken sandwiches. The restaurant steps into our retro-inspired diner and prepare to be transported to an era of warmth and nostalgia. Our friendly staff and inviting atmosphere create the perfect place for enjoying our delicious comfort food classics. From mouthwatering burgers cooked to perfection to indulgent classic milkshakes that will satisfy any sweet tooth, every bite at Shake Station Diner is a flavorful journey worth savoring..

We will first establish a typographical look, and will design multiple related components during the semester.

A few things to know:

Step into Shake Station, a charming local diner located in the heart of Ellenton, FL, where owners Andy and Kalliopi bring decades of restaurant expertise to create the perfect blend of atmosphere and quality food for you and your family to enjoy.

Here, you’re whisked away to the nostalgic 1950s, where sharing a juicy burger and creamy milkshake with your sweetheart feels like stepping into a scene from a classic movie. Immerse yourself in the era’s favorite tunes as you savor each bite. Our dedicated Shake girls and guys are ready to greet you with warm smiles and exceptional service, making you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in. This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience where memories are made and cherished for years to come.

Who comes here?

  • Families, kids, adults, teens, tourists
  • Great place for a date
  • Nice place to hand on a friday night

Is this the same as Shake Shack?
It’s family onwned and a one off. Think custom and craft.

WORDMARKS and the USE of TYPEFACES

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Assignment 1 SPECS: Wordmark

Shake Station

Create a word mark/logo for Shake Station

Make it feel craft, fun, unique and yummy

Once the main wordmark is designed, we might develop an alternate, such as SS.

There are multiple directions in which to start with this. Think of the overall look of the typography and feel.

Vintage / Retro
Modern / Trendy

Craft/Modern
Mix

START your research: typefaces, look, inspiration
—-Collect your research: Pinterest, Mood Boards, Websites, photos—–

Make a mood board in indesign. 8.5 x11.

Other considerations:

• The mark must work in one color only (for now black). We will discuss color later.
Research possible typeface (or two at the most).
• Think of weight, width, posture, case, composition
• Do not need to be literal
• May use lines or shapes, but no photos or detailed illustrations
• Words can stack
