Movie recommendation.

One movie that I recommend is “Mowgli” (2018). This is an adventure drama film directed by Andy Serkis. This movie is for people who loves animals. This movie is about a little boy name Mowgli who ended up in jangle and raised by a family of wolves. As the boy grows older, the wise panther Bagheera realizes he must be returned to his own kind in the nearby man-village. Baloo (the bearhowever, thinks differently, taking the young Mowgli under his wing and teaching him that living in the jungle is the best life there is. Bagheera realizes that Mowgli is in danger, particularly from Shere Khan the tiger who hates all people. When Baloo finally comes around, Mowgli runs off into the jungle where he survives a second encounter with Kaa the snake and finally, with Shere Khan. It’s the sight of a pretty girl, however, that draws Mowgli to the nearby man-village and stay there.

This is a very interesting movie you guys should watch it.

Kedi

A film I recommend is a documentary film called “Kedi”. Its a great movie for cat and animal lovers alike. It takes place in the city of Istanbul and follows the life of 7 Turkish cats who roam the city freely. The documentary tells the story of the cats themselves, their complex relationship with the residents of Istanbul and the changing city .

Shanna’s Recommendation! :)

This is my movie recommendation!

Parasite, 2019, directed by Bong Joon-ho.

What starts off as a pretty lighthearted, funny movie in the beginning. The viewer can somewhat get quickly met with a whirlwind of emotions throughout the whole film.

You get introduced to a low income family in South Korea scheming ways to work for a rich well off family, all finding creative methods to get hired.

Once that peak of happiness passes, the movie takes a twisted turn relating to both families and putting a lot of attention on social class and wealth. It’s a wild movie from start to finish, all flowing so naturally and hitting different genres, comedy, thriller, and lightly touching on horror.

I suggest this movie for anyone who is okay with getting mind-screwed from its plot and well executed manipulation from the director.

I assure you, the suspense and humor will keep you both engaged and on the edge of your seat!!

Important facts

  • Foreign film therefore it will have subtitles.
  • It won Academy Award for Best Picture.
  • It’s currently available on Hulu, if anyone is very interested in checking it out!

Lia’s Book Recommendation

Trevor Noah, Born a Crime (2016). I really enjoyed reading this novel. It takes us through Trevor Noah’s life growing up as a mixed child in Africa during and post-apartheid. It’s interesting to see how he as a famous comedian grew up not having much but still possessing entrepreneurial talents early on. His strong-willed mother being a major part of this as she outwardly rejected what was expected of African people/women, a subordinate role which was what they were subject to at the time. It covers the heavies of discrimination, racism, and religion and while remaining funny and light.

My book recommendation:

Carl Hiassen, Squeeze Me (2020). This novel is a fun, roller coaster ride through the swamps of Palm Beach Florida in search of a giant python. But besides the super large snake, there is a mystery of what happened to Kiki Pew, a rich local celebrity and whether or not the first lady is implicated in the irreverent action. The hero is Angie Armstrong, wildlife wrangler and all-around tough cookie. This novel is what I call a page-turner, the type of book that makes you stay up until you finish it. I definitely recommend this.
