Welcome to the virtual Honors & Undergraduate Research Scholars Poster Presentation. On this website, you will find student’s posters, along with an “elevator pitch” that they’ve prepared in writing. The goal of this virtual conference is to share the hard work of our students, along with giving them the opportunity to summarize their research in a manner similar to if they were meeting you face-to-face.
Another element of this virtual presentation is for posters to be evaluated by faculty members, with prizes given to the top two posters in each category: STEM, non-STEM, group, and interdisciplinary.
The inaugural Dr. Jean Hillstrom Interdisciplinary Research Award will be given to students in the interdisciplinary poster category. The Interdisciplinary Research Award is in honor of the late Dr. Jean Hillstrom, Associate Professor of Psychology, former Chair of the Social Science department, Interdisciplinary Studies Committee member, and distinguished mentor to undergraduate students. Her dedication and support for undergraduate research surpassed just those in her psychology research lab and had a lasting, positive impact on all students with whom she crossed paths. The Dr. Jean Hillstrom Interdisciplinary Research Award goes to a student poster from an interdisciplinary course and/or “teams or individuals, that integrates information, data, techniques, tools, perspectives, concepts, and/or theories from two or more disciplines or bodies of specialized knowledge to advance fundamental understanding or to solve problems whose solutions are beyond the scope of a single discipline or area of research practice.”[1]
Note to Judges: Please look for your poster ID numbers, located beneath each poster. Posters can be found using the respective tabs for STEM (S), non-STEM (NS), group (G) and Interdisciplinary (ID). Judging forms are electronic and available online. Please submit one form per poster.
