SuperHERO is a long term research project that upgrades the 30 year old Heathkit Educational Robot (HERO-1) and combines both old and modern technology to help people with disabilities. Previous studies had shown success with assembling modern technology onto the base of the robot and testing the robot arm’s individual motors. This project focuses on testing the robot’s and the robot arm’s overall movements and using a 3D design software, Tinkercad, to replace the old plastic of the arm before attaching it back onto the robot. This robotic arm has rotary and extension movements, where the gripper’s open and close movements and the arm extension will help people with limited arm movements to reach and grab an object.

My name is Kwamina Bayin Afful, I am a junior at CUNY CityTech Brooklyn offering B-Tech in Facilities Management. My project is about a Facilities Manager’s role in educating stakeholders in an organization about Net-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB), what they are, their different classifications, the type of  systems and strategies used in achieving a NZEB. To educate them to  embrace NZEBs as a key weapon in fighting global warming, and show the financial and economic benefits associated with it. Buildings consume about 40% of energy generated in the world. This makes NZEB critical in saving the future of our planet.

Geopolymers are an excellent alternative in the face of increasing pollution of CO2 during manufacture of Ordinary Portland Concrete. Geopolymers can be used since they reduce CO2 emission rates for over 80%. They also use large amounts of manufacturing by-products such as fly ash, results inn a large reuse of industrial waste. My project, with the support of my mentor looks at different concentrations of Silicon Carbonate (a binder) in geopolymer samples to understand its effect of mechanical strength. Mechanical strength is the most crucial aspect of concrete since it would need to have high tension bearing ability. I plan to see how this would alter the geopolymer’s properties.

Good day, my name is Luc Telemaque and I am here to introduce my study on how information is spread on Twitter. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we are subjected to selfisolation. As a consequence of social distancing, we are more inclined to resort to social media, such as Twitter, to communicate with our peers and leaders. In an era of misinformation, propaganda is readily accepted as facts amongst naïve individuals. To prevent the impact of the spread of misinformation, we must first understand how misinformation is spread, as well as who the deceivers are.

Redlining was a form of systematic discrimination towards low income neighborhoods which were mostly populated by working class and minority residents. These people were purposefully denied essential services such as mortgages and property insurance necessary to sustain their homes and neighborhoods. A system of highway projects developed after 1935 had their routes slice through redlined neighborhoods in a practice that accommodated vehicular traffic while destroying slum-like conditions at the same time. This research topic explores the highway system of Brooklyn, specifically the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, through the lens of a neighborhood affected – Brooklyn Heights – composed of “desirable” and “hazardous” sections. The effects redlining had left a mark on the neighborhoods of Brooklyn, and it is vital that we further investigate this program to bring better understanding and awareness to it.

Self-Driving cars are on of the hottest areas of technology, by adding a solar panel as a renewable energy source we have built a solar powered autonomous vehicle. As of now this type of car is not available to the public. Before it is fully released, we are coming up with new and better ideas to advance further into the future and make our lives easier. With this technology all you have to is pick a location and your car will drive their without the need of going to a gas station to charge up the car. In the near future will be adding voice recognition to control the direction, change the music, or to turn the AC on with your comfort.

This study aims to understand how consumers use recreational genetic kit applications and tools to interpret results, and how those results are understood as a determinant of wellness and health knowledge. Often consumers’ motivation to purchase a direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic kit reflect expectations about supposed hereditary, diseases, and out of curiosity. Based on interview findings, consumers are concerned about privacy issues, discrimination, and data hacking. Recently, an open source recreational genetic site was used to identify and arrest the “East Area Rapist.” This suggests that participation in open-source genetic sites can lead to loss of privacy and potential hacking of information. This is in part because DTC companies are not necessarily subject to the same privacy laws as population biobanks, biological or medical data and tissue samples collections used for research purposes. Furthermore, many of the privacy claims made by these companies are just advertising claims and do not necessarily provide safeguards for people’s information. As a result, Norway, Germany, and some states in the United States ban DTC kits, and only permit professionals to purchase genetic testing kits.

This poster is all about the life of fractal. Fractal is geometric shape which can be split into parts that are considered a reduced copy of the whole. Two examples of fractals are the Cantor set, and the Sierpinski triangle. Those fractals have lot of real-life application. As with, fractals are used to predict or analyze various biological processes or phenomena such as the growth pattern of bacteria, the pattern of situations such as nerve dendrites, etc. Furthermore, fractals are very helpful creating special effect on movies such as Star Trek and Star Wars. On a related note, fractals are also used in creating some computer graphics. By conducti this research I was able to analyze root of the fractal and found that they are continues everywhere. Next part of this research would be applying any of those application real life and see the outcome.

Augmented Reality is a technology that can bring virtual objects to the real world and has been used in people’s everyday lives. As this technology is being improved and modified, more people are starting to find more use to what it can do such as designing buildings, classroom educations, and even medical training. AR without a doubt will continue to advance and eventually grow popular throughout the world, so financing in this project first will gain an advantage to lead the AR market out of all the competitors.

My name is BingFang Chen and I do the research project of the CUNY Research Scholar program. I try to use my projects to help people who get the physical problem, make their life not effect by accident. They can use the mind to control wheelchair move if their hand can’t work temporally. In the current phase of the project, background research is done to learn to use the Electroencephalogram (EEG) measurements of brain waves to control the robot. A modified Mindflex game controller is connected to Arduino and brain activity data is passed on to Processing code running on a PC in order to track and record brain wave patterns. The electrical activity of the brain is used to turn a DC motor on and off. In the future, it will be used to control the speed and direction of the DC motors in a robot, Talk and Roll Rot. In addition, I hope this project will also improve science or helps people who need it.
