OpenLab assignment: practice exam

Due Monday, December 19, 11:59pm

  1. Make up a final exam, time yourself taking it, and post your questions and solutions
  2. Your exam will have 10 questions total; choose questions from HOT topics, WeBWorK, Test #1 or Test #2, and the final exam review sheet
  3. Make sure all major topics from the course are represented (see list of lessons on the course hub); do not include the simplest/easiest questions on a given topic.
  4. Take your exam in a setting as close to the actual final exam setting as possible:
    • Set a timer for 100 minutes
    • Put your phone on the other side of the room or in another room
    • Use just a cheat sheet (one side of one letter-sized page, hand written by you) and a calculator (optional)
    • You may like to complete each question on a separate piece of paper
    • Post title: Practice exam / Post category: Practice exam
  5. For an extra participation point: find an error in a classmate’s exam, write a correct solution, and post the corrected version in the comments on their post along with an explanation of their error.

Withdrawing from class and “quiet quitting;” final exam absence

Withdrawing officially and unofficially

The last day to withdraw officially from your CityTech classes is Wednesday, December 14.

Some of you are in a position where you would like to withdraw from the class but for some reason you cannot (for example, you will lose financial aid if you are not a full-time student or you are taking another course for which MAT 2680 is a co-requisite). If you do not intend to continue trying to pass this course but cannot drop it (“quiet quitting”) it is still important for you to come to the final exam and hand something in with your name on on. Failure to do so may result in a WU grade (instead of an F). A WU grade counts as an F on your transcript but can also jeopardize your financial aid, so please do attend the final exam.

Final exam absense

If you are absent from the final exam and need to take a make-up exam, you must submit your documentation to the Student Accessibility Center and, if eligible for a make-up exam, make official arrangements with the Math Department in N711. Scheduling a make-up exam costs $25; the make-up is usually given in January.

    • Category: Test #2 Solutions
    • Include your test version and question number (your test version is time listed at the top of the page; e.g., 5:44pm)
  • See old weekly checklists to see old OpenLab assignments. Ensure that you have completed any OpenLab old assignments (group or individual) that you think you have completed. Complete any assignments that you have not yet completed. Each OpenLab assignment earns you one participation point.
    • There are some old posts in the drafts folder that were never actually posted. (OpenLab will not publish a post without a category selected, for example.) To see your own draft posts, under MAT 1575 Calculus II at the very top of the screen, select Dashboard. On the far left side of the Dashboard screen, select Posts. Above the list of posts, there’s an option to select Drafts.
    • Make sure your post titles and categories match what’s given in the instructions so that your posts can be found later.
