My mathematical history – Nadezhda Yagubova

Hello everybody! My name is Nadezhda Yagubova. I was born in former Soviet Union and I live in Brooklyn for about 5 years. My major is in Chemical Technologies and I am taking this class, because it is required for my major and also I like the math. This is my third math class at City Tech, previously I took 1275 and 1375 Math classes.

I took some math classes in High School back in my home town that were very similar to Calculus. Out of all subjects, I like the math, because it is very interesting and prompting subject, and I enjoy it, especially trigonometry.

Math is a basis of all sciences. In today’s life, math connects every major either you’re going to be an accountant, a doctor or an engineer. It is all around us, and I don’t think that anything could replace it.

My Mathematical History – Ivan Rosario

My name is Ivan Rosario, I am 20, and my current major is Mathematical Education. I always had a liking to complex things; finding the answer of things that look hard and make them look easy, has been my joy. When I was in 8th grade I was introduce to algebra, I completely close my mind when my math teacher put in the board ‘’ Solve for X.’’ before she started explaining she said the following ‘’ If you learn this today the rest of the class will be a piece of cake.’’ And that’s exactly what it was. From there I always liked math and not matter how bad problems look I always found a way to find the answer.

My Mathematical History – Sagar Lamsal

Hey! I’m Sagar Lamsal. I am 16 years old. Going to be 17 pretty soon. I’m from Nepal. Not a lot of people know about. In case you also didn’t know, it is where Himalayas are. And if you don’t know Himalayas, then just Google it. It is going to be my 3rd year in United States on October. I have been living in NYC since I came here. I live in Manhattan. I live in midtown Manhattan, specifically.

I loved mathematics since I was a little kid. I still love it now. My major is Computer Engineering.  I had taken AP Calculus in high school. I think that was Calculus AB or College Calculus I. But I only got a 3 on my AP test so I got placed in Calculus I. Basically I am going to learn the whole thing again, which I think is pretty awesome and easy because I would know most of the things already. I think I am the youngest in this class, considering my age.  I’m taking this course because of two reasons; # 1 I already told you above and, 2. It is a requirement for my major. Yeah, so that’s all I have to say. And I wish GOOD LUCK to all my fellow classmates. Have a great semester ahead. I can’t wait to officially start the class. Hehe. 😀

My Mathematical Histories – Ashley Dunlap

20131211_081419

Hi, my name is Ashley. I’m 18 years old and this is my second year at City Tech. I’ve lived in Brooklyn my whole life. I am a Liberal Arts & Sciences major, but I hope to transfer to a SUNY college to major in Adolescence Education specifically for Mathematics and English.

As you might be able to tell, I really enjoy math. I originally enrolled in this class when it was an Honors Calculus class. Throughout my entire life, I have always liked math but as I got older it got harder and required more attention. Around my junior year in high school I gave up on it, and eventually ruled it out of my college plans. In my first semester at City Tech I took Professor Murray’s Pre-Calc class and it helped me find my love for the subject again. When Professor Poirier offered the option of the Honors class I didn’t take it last Spring, but when I saw her at a school event and she asked me again, I realized there was no way I could avoid this class. I hope to work towards an A throughout the semester.

My Math history – Allen Lin

Hi guys I’m 18 and i love math even though I’m not that great at it. I learn fast though. I lived in the United States my whole life.

I’m taking this class because it’s required but i would have still taken it because math is fun in my opinion. The highest math I have taken is PreCalculus in high school. My major is mechanical Engineering.

My Mathematical History – Indeep Singh

hey! My name is Indeep Singh. I’m 17 years old and currently a freshman in college. I am from India, but living in the US for about 12 years. I live in Valley Stream, NY. I’m majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology. My favorite sport is basketball and i love to play it as well.

The reason why i’m taking this class is because its a requirement for my major. I’ve have always loved math and physics throughout my high school career and plan on enjoying it in college as well. Going onto my math history which is pretty strange. At my high school, I took Calculus BC, which is a combination of Calculus 1 & 2. The reason why I’m taking this course is because I didn’t get a high enough score on my AP exam for Calculus BC. I plan on getting a good grade in this course because i have previous knowledge in calculus. The only thing i hate in math is sequence and series which was a disaster for me in high school. Other than that I love math. I hope to learn a lot from this course.

My Mathematical History

Hello. My name is Abdullah Sackor, I am 18 years old, I came to the USA about four years ago. My favorite sport is soccer, even though I barely watch it, I like to play it a lot. Personally I wish I could go to Europe and  one day become a professional soccer player. As for right now I am sticking into my studies until the opportunity for me to be a soccer player comes. I am majoring in computer engineering right now.

I don’t have much experience in Math am not really good at it. Sure I was able to pass most of my math tests. But that doesn’t mean I was good at math. Because I already forgot most of the math that I used to know. Math is a thought subject for me , sometimes I have hard times understanding it. One of the reasons why I dislike math is because sometimes I understand the lessons, but the problem is I forget most of the thing I use to know real quick. If I understand it sure at that time I might do good at it but that won’t last for long that’s why I dislike math. I am taking this class because as for someone who’s majoring in computer engineering . There is good chance that I might need to know math. Also it is part of my requirements, so I will try my best to understand the class and be able to pass all my classes, so I can graduate on time.
