1. GIF VS. JPEG
Open the image named āRedwoods.jpgā in Photoshop. Save it as a GIF in your folder (File > Save for Web and Devices > GIF > Save). Open the GIF youāve just created in photoshop, alongside the original image. Zoom to 400% into both images. What do you notice?
Answer: The GIF is more pixelated.

2. PPI
Open the image named āTruck-300.jpgā in Photoshop. Go to Image > Image Size. Unclick the āResample Imageā box. Change the PPI (pixel/inch) number from 300 to 72. Save the image to your folder, renaming it as āTruck-72.jpgā. Open both images alongside each other. What do you notice?
Answer: I didnāt see much difference

3. PRESETS
Open the image named āFlower.jpgā. Choose āSave for Web and Devicesā to experiment with saving them to your folder with different settings from the āPresetā menu (the dropdown menu on the top right) ā JPEG high, JPEG low, GIF 128 dithered, not dithered, etc… What do you notice?
Answer: JPEG high shows more detail and texture than JPEG low. GIF 128 Dithered displayās the pic more like a pointillism drawing; the pixels are more visible. No Dither appears almost as a painting. The texture and the look changes with each setting.
4. RESIZING
Open the image named āDog.jpgā. Go to āImageā > āImage Sizeā. Make sure the āConstrain Proportionsā box is clicked. Change the width of the image to 600. Save the Image to your folder, renaming it as āDogconstrained. jpgā. Re-open the original image. This time, unclick the the āConstrain Proportionsā box before changing the width of the image to 600. Save the Image, renaming it as āDog-notConstrained.jpgā, to yourfolder. What do you notice?
Answer: Not constrained is very distorted

5. CROPPING
Open the image named āDog.jpgā. Crop it, but make sure the viewer can still understand that the picture is that of a dog. Use the āMarkeeā tool (Left menu, 2nd from the top) to select the area you would like to crop. Go to āImageā > āCropā. Save the image to your folder, renaming it āDog-croppedā. Include this image inyour blogpost.Ā Ā
