For the near light I had the camera phone and clamp light close to me to gain the portrait . In the second photo where the clamp light is away, I moved to a different background to get more space for the light. I believe the near light portrait is complimentary because it gives out more details and great lighting. The shadows are also more darker in the photo than it is in the second photo.
