May 2017: Fluoride Varnish Program at Family Head Start.  8885 26th Avenue. Brooklyn  NY 11214

Fluoride varnish is a tool can prevent dental caries. It has been found to be effective in preventing caries in primary and permanent teeth, especially among children at high risk for tooth decay.  At this activity, organized for the Public Health course I had the chance to experience community work. We screened kids from 4-6yrs old for cavities or oral disease, filled out report cards for their parents, and if allowed applied fluoride varnish as a preventive service.
