My name is Mehreen Khanom, I go by she/her/hers. I am South Asian. I was born in Bangladesh and raised in the Bronx. I am a sophomore, and my major is business and technology of fashion. The reason why I am in college is because of my parents and to pursue a good career in the future that will keep me stable in life. My hobby is painting. I like to paint in my free time and whenever I am bored to kill time or to get my mind off life. This semester I am trying to focus on college and don’t want to get distracted. I am scared about this semester because I am not sure how this semester will end but I hope it ends well.

I am a mother of six cats. Growing up I have always been a cat person, but my parents never allowed cats in the house until my sophomore year of high school. Last year I brought a stray cat home and four months later she gave birth to three beautiful babies. They are currently five months old. Their names are Boogie, Sushi, and Mowgli. Taking care of them and watching them come into this world was an eye-opener. I can’t go a week without seeing them, that’s how attached I am. I feel like without them the house will feel empty. Sometimes when I am upset, spending time and being around them makes me feel a lot better. They make my life ten times better.

Hey, my name is Manchehra Hazratkulova. I am from Uzbekistan. I came to the United States in 2014 and ever since I live in Brooklyn. This is my second year in City Tech college. Currently, I am taking prerequisite courses for nursing. If I pass the exam I’ll be in the nursing program. I decided majoring in nursing because when I was sophomore in high school I volunteered at the hospital and I enjoyed being in a hospital environment. Also, during my free time I usually read books and watch anything related to psychology.

This picture was taken in 2019, by me. I went to City Tech College of Technology for only 39 days and then the pandemic started. Usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays I had a few hours of free time between my classes. Therefore, I used to take photos and edit them. This picture is one of them, from the English class in a small building. I would like to post all the photos I took at City Tech college because they are all from two years ago, where life was exciting.

Hey guys, My name is Mauris Lopez but if my name is complicated for you, you can call me by my last. I recently just got back into school after almost two years of being out. I recently become a mom and it’s been the best thing in the world. Don’t get me wrong its been a ride and a lot of changes especially because of the pandemic but  I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I was born in the Dominican Republic and came to United States at the age of five. Ive practically been living here all my life, I love to dance and I love music epically my cultures music. I recently just moved to corona queens after living in the Lower East Side for about six years before that I lived in Brooklyn. As of now i’m not really doing much but just trying to get myself and my life together trying to find balance. Right now I’m a full time mom, a full-time student and full time fiancé. I was really nervous and anxious about starting college again after being out for so long, but I took the leap of faith and I did what I had to do to pull through and come back to college. I am very proud of myself.

This Is my world. My baby boy Aiden. He’s my first and I got really lucky, I wanted a boy and I got it. Its been an amazing experience and he has shown me so much he makes better each day. Everything I do is for that boy, I’ve grown and changed so much since my son. Know I understand some of the things my mother use to tell me while growing up, that I’ve lived through with my son. My son has mad me value my mother so much more I thank god everyday for this blessing. Even though my son wasn’t planned he couldn’t have came eat a better timing. I lost my grandfather the same year my son was born, I was five months pregnant and the day after I found out that my son was going to be a boy my grandfather passed. It was hard but I’m thankful for my family and my son that help me throughout this time.
