Taramattie Persaud

Hi everyone! My name is Taramattie but you can call me Tara. I was born and raised in Guyana. I came to America in the late 80’s. I live in Queens, NYC. I found out about City Tech through my daughter because she is a City Tech alumni. That is what sparked my interest in going back to school. I am currently a paraprofessional in DOE, and looking into majoring in Liberal Arts or Education. I enjoy reading.

The picture I have added is the smoke due to the Canadian wildfires. I found this fascinating because I hadn’t seen anything like it before. I did not expect the air quality to be so horrible.

Mariam Otero

Hey everyone! I’m Mariam, she/her pronouns. I’m originally from Brooklyn, NY, where I’m raising my 7-year-old son as a single mom. My super sweet and silly son is my whole world and greatest source of joy. He keeps me going strong every day as I work to build a brighter future for our little family.

I’ve got a clear goal ahead, to start the radiology technology program in Fall 2024. Working in the medical field has always been my passion, and I fell in love with radiology from the start.

This picture shows why I never give up – my son’s big, beaming smile. His fearless confidence reminds me that with determination, anything is possible. He is my daily motivation to keep moving forward, even when life gets difficult. Finding balance in my life is tough, but I’m excited to see what’s in store for us on this journey. Our days involve a constant juggling act, but I’m committed to making this chapter count.

Sarah Munassar

Hello everyone, my name is Sarah Munassar, pronouns she/her. I’m from Yemen, a country in the Middle East. I’m currently residing in Brooklyn. My major is BioMedical Informatics, and I plan to be a dentist in the future. Hopefully, I can do it without major difficulties.  What I love to do in NYC is go to the city with my friends and try new restaurants, and fun activities such as escape rooms even though we never escaped one sadly. I also love cooking especially traditional dishes, I love traveling, hanging out, shopping, and watching movies/ shows.

The picture below makes me think of my trip to Qatar in January. It was the nicest trip I’ve ever taken because I saw my best friend of all time there after a long time away, making it the best trip I’ve ever had. We went to the mall that day, and I took the photo there. Later, I felt someone touch me on the shoulder. When I turned around, it was her, my best friend and second favorite person in the world (after my parents, of course). That day was an emotional roller coaster; everyone sobbed, and it was an AMAZING day. Looking back, I can see that everyone was applauding and encouraging us even though they were frightened about what was happening between us when we started crying. Don’t worry, though; we explained the situation to them, and they became even more thrilled for us.

the mall has an artificial river which was so fascinating to see for the first time.

Thank you for tuning in I hope that you enjoy my post!
