Introduction

Hi my name is Cecilia Lee (Ceci for short) and my pronouns are she/her. I was born in Brazil and raised in Seoul, South Korea. I’ve been living in New York for the past 4 years. My academic interests are in nursing, which I hope to pursue further at CityTech. A lot of my hobbies include watching documentaries, hanging out with my dog, and sleeping.

The photo I uploaded is my dog Ayrton. He was named after Ayrton Senna, who was a Brazilian Formula 1 driver for McLaren !

Class introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Nowal Rahman, my pronounce are she/her. I was born in Bangladesh and I live in Brooklyn, New York. I moved to United States when I was little. This is my second semester in city tech. I’m currently majoring in liberal arts and science, but I intend to change my major since I want to pursue a career in dentistry. Due to the fact that my first semester did not go as well as I had hoped, I am really concerned about this semester however, I’ll  give my best and raise my grades. Since I’m usually working and occupied with college, I make the most of my free time by spending it with friends and family. I work as a dental hygienist at a dentist’s office, which I believe to be very beneficial for my career in dentistry.

This is a picture of a beautiful place in Bangladesh. It’s a tea garden, there’s also a big park near it. I used to always go there with my dad when I was little. I miss this place a lot. I hope to go back one day.

Discussion

To start off, what I have learned about the reading is that many African Americans started to get more rights during 1869 and stopped discrimination. An important quote I found was ” as Hiram Revels became the first African American to serve in the U.S. Senate. Revels was an educator and minister, who had helped form regiments of African American soldiers during the Civil War.” This shows that during the Civil War, the Senate Revels was still helping the African American soldiers by educating them while he was serving the Mississippi State and was able to fill a vacant seat in the US Senate.
