The MTA has always had its fair share of problems. But with the rise of the covid-19 pandemic, some of the present problems have worsened, and new ones have appeared post the pandemic.
Some of the problems that have been affecting riders:

Overcrowding
- MTA reports that in 2019, has daily ridership was 5.5 million and 1.698 billion annually on subways.
- MTA reports that in 2020, has a daily ridership of 2 million and 640 million annually on subways.
Unseen Crimes
- According to the New York Post, It was reported by the NYPD that 2021 has the highest crime rate ever since 1997. It was also reported that it would be 2.46 crimes per million riders in 2022, which overturns the 1.47 crimes per million riders in 2019.
- Crimes such as Robberies, Homicides, Assaults, Larceny, and Toll Avoidance.
