Introduction

Dental hygienists serve as an essential part of the dental community on a daily basis.  They are the first people to establish a relationship with the patient.  A kind, easy going confident individual can set the base for a strong trustful relationship between patients and health care professionals.  As New Yorkers we lead busy lives that many times interfere with the healthcare we should be receiving.  Yet although many of us are not going to our physicians more than 60% of Americans do visit their dentist on a regular basis. Thus as hygienists and the first line of trust it is our duty to be attentive to the conditions and complaints that our patients may present.
