Karmoko’s Midterm Presentation Reflection

During the presentations on Monday 10/. I was given a lot of information during the various presentation topics that were done by the different groups. I learned a great deal about the economic benefits surrounding metrotech. I also learned of the urban renewal project which in turn would correlate with my groups presentation on gentrification of the metrotech area. The presentation helped me develop a better understanding of the whole reasoning and planning of metrotech as we know today. All of the groups presentations helped me expand my thinking when it came to metrotech and has helped me develop a better understanding of the Changes that metrotech has caused .

Midterm presentation reflection

Based on these few days presentation, I get a lot information about MetroTech. In my group was presenting the Urban renewal of MetroTech, and other groups were sharing different areas like economic, population, zoning, transportation and etc. Since I am architecture student, I might more focus on the building’s design or landscape. But after other groups share their perspectives, I more understand architecture and other impact could relate to each other. The changed of areas or buildings could increase or lose the people, and it could effect the neighborhood. Also buildings’ design may invite people come to visit, it also leads to change the economy of that area.

Reflection on Presentations

It was exciting to see my fellow classmates share their perspectives on the development of Metro Tech. It was particularly interesting to see how similar all our topics where, yet we all managed to focus our research on different areas. Myself and my teammate Diana, chose to focus our study on how  the development of Metro Tech impacted the neighborhood of Downtown Brooklyn.  But, learning from the other teams’ research  about how the zoning laws and the city’s overall efforts to “renew” the area, facilitated the development of Metro Tech, helped me to better understand the whole master plan.
