Prof. Pericles guides students through an overview of the history, likely directions and organizational structure of the hospitality industry and its role in local, national and global economies. Students are introduced to the nature and scope of the hospitality industry, basic terminology, management concepts, career path explorations and the department’s mission and culture.
ENG 2001 Introduction to Fiction, Fall 2020
In this course, we will study fiction across genres, eras, and locales. We will examine broad themes such as moving, marriage, home, and the individual.

Students are introduced to the nature and scope of the hospitality industry, basic terminology, management concepts, career path explorations and the department’s mission and culture.
SUSTAINABILITY IN HOSPITALITY – This learning community will introduce the 21st Century relevance of sustainability in the hospitality industry and incorporating the concept connecting the various foundations taught in these two introductory management classes. Connections will be made as students investigate their career options and widen their scope of industry knowledge. Students will learn how to establish a professional electronic profile and simulate a career exploration search.
This is an introductory college-level course in communication skills that further develops your reading, analyzing, researching, and writing skills through readings and assignments. What you do in this class is not important simply for completing a requirement, as the skills you work on here will be crucial to your success in your chosen course of study going forward. Being part of an FYLC with introductory courses in Hospitality Management means that there will be shared themes, materials, and assignments across all three classes. This set of courses offers you the opportunity to fully engage with your chosen major, as well as form community with the peers who will be accompanying you here at City Tech.
