COMD Communication Design Internship Coordination Site
This site is designed to help you find fieldwork/study situations of approximately eight hours per week at an internship site approved by the Department Internship instructor such as an advertising agency, graphic design firm, corporate design office, publications art department, photography or illustration studio, TV or multimedia production company. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Openlab. A portion of the class will be devoted to presenting and sharing experiences with classmates. Students will learn how to assess their talents, update their resume, and promote themselves and their work through social networks. Students will be required to setup and maintain at least two social media networks such as: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. The instructors for this class are there as mentors if you have not yet found an internship before registering for the course. However, the instructors do not find an internship placement for you. It is your responsibility to find a position that fits your personal career path and help you transition to full time employment upon leaving the halls of CityTech. Ideally, you will use this site to find an internship the semester before taking the COMD 4900 class.

ENGR 1001 | Exploring Engineering Technology | Summer 2023
A project-based introduction to engineering with a focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering Technologies. A comprehensive overview of these exciting fields that goes beyond theory and textbook knowledge by providing hands-on experience through the development of an automated robotic system that emulates real-world applications. An opportunity to explore different options and learn about the exciting career opportunities available in each area. Students gain a deep understanding of the practical applications of engineering and develop the basic skills needed to succeed in the field.
Interdisciplinary Information Design ID2 – Model Course
This openly available model course contains course information, learning outcomes, suggested weekly topics and projects, video resources, quizzes, and more. It may be cloned and adapted by any faculty member teaching this course.

OER Open Education Resource Advanced typographic design principles. Typographic applications for web design, print and motion graphics are explored, as well as integration of design and production in the laboratory.

Faculty Commons, A Center for Teaching, Learning, Scholarship and Service coordinates all professional development, grants and assessment activities of faculty at New York City College of Technology. Faculty Commons adopts a programmatic approach to professional development and operates as a faculty resource and think tank where members collaborate on a variety of projects to shape curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. In accordance with the College goals and strategic plan and with support from CUNY, the Office of the Provost, the College Council and the Professional Development Advisory Council, Faculty Commons will strive to improve and promote the quality and excellence of faculty at New York City College of Technology.

Black Male Initiative (BMI) program at CUNY – New York City College of Technology is one of nine U.S. Model Replication Institutions (MRI). City Tech’s BMI is the only STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) focused initiative among the CUNY schools. The BMI project is a CUNY-wide program, whose goals are to increase enrollment and success of underrepresented students, particularly African-American male students. BMI is funded by the New York City Council. City Tech has targeted its BMI efforts on increasing enrollment and success in STEM fields for underrepresented students, such as African-American men, other students of color and women.
