Level 2 English course (required) where we discuss how Discourse Communities and Genre convey messages to an audience. We will read William Shakespeare’s Sonnets, the poems of Emily Dickinson, watch Outlander clips, and read Guy de Maupassant’s “Hautot and His Son.” We will also read two non-fictional texts (a war diary and a UN speech). The goal is to see who you are as writers, to improve your writing, to explore research questions, and to repurpose that research for modern or current causes or contexts.
