My name is Darise Parisienne and I am currently a Sophomore studying Hospitality Management at the New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn, New York. I am a food lover and so I am specializing in Culinary and Pastry Arts. To bring me along my food journey I have volunteered for the James Beard Foundation, a prestige food organization, which acknowledges great food talent and accomplishments in America. I assisted two chefs, I volunteered for two days, in food prep, cooking, plating and serving. One day I was serving and interacting with the guests, bringing attention to the restaurant the chef I assisted worked in, its cuisine and explaining in great detail the dish being served. I volunteer in my school. I did many more food prep, serving and guest interaction roles within those volunteer experiences. All of these experiences have given me a new way to look at food and has deepened my respect for it. It has also strengthened my love of serving others before thinking about myself. It is the core of Hospitality and it is also mine.
