Bernaldo Grande’s Profile
The high school that I attended has a graduation rate of 90% and even though to some people graduating high school seems like an easy task it is not always true. Graduating high school was a huge academic success for me even if it looked like a simple thing to do. I consider this a success because I am a first generation high school graduate and college student. My parents never graduated high school and even though they are well off I know that if they were to have gone to college or graduated high school they wouldâve had the possibility of having a better job.
Growing up I never thought that I wouldnât attend college, to me, it was a given that I had to go if I didnât go I felt that I would disappoint my family and not be able to get a good job. When I first started college I chose culinary as my major because both of my parents work in a kitchen, but I soon changed my major to communication design because my heart wasnât fully with culinary. I switched majors because in the future I wish to become a photographer or a film/video producer and I feel that a communication design major will prepare me for that type of occupation. My future is still unknown but I do know the right steps to take in order to get a future that I desire. Since my parents pay for my tuition I know that if I donât try to achieve my goal it just ends up as a dream, and with them spending their money for me to get an education it makes me strive even harder to reach my goal and make them proud.
