An in depth analysis of the planning, budgeting and construction processes used in the production of scenery. Students will apply their knowledge of construction and drafting techniques and process to generate shop drawings, develop budget estimates and plan construction schedules.

The course is to serve as the senior thesis project. The student will either: 1) act in a principal supervisory role in a production as a designer or technical director; 2) propose, design and build a specialized piece of show equipment; or 3) develop a project which utilizes his/her skills in a new and innovative way that relates to or impacts on the entertainment industry. All projects must be approved by the adviser and should demonstrate professional management, technical design and presentation skills. Documentation of planning, design and realization will be presented to a committee of instructors, both in entertainment technology and related disciplines, as well as industry professionals; all are to be selected by the students and approved by the adviser. Though students will enroll in the course during their senior year, development of the project should begin during the second semester of the junior year.

ENT 4499 Culmination Project (Monday)

This course serves as the senior thesis project. Projects may be developed through courses in the entertainment technology and/or emerging media technology programs. All projects must be approved by the advisor and should demonstrate management, technical design and presentation skills. LIB 1201: Research and Documentation for the Information Age

This course explores research and documentation for all media formats including text, images, sound, and multimedia. Students will examine the full life cycle of information, including: how information is produced and organized in both traditional and emerging media, locating information sources in a variety of media and formats, critical evaluation of sources, the ethics of information use, and documentation and citation of traditional and emerging media and technologies. CUNY Service Corps

The CUNY Service Corps will mobilize CUNY students, faculty and staff to work on projects that improve the short and long-term civic, economic and environmental sustainability of New York City and of its residents and communities. The program’s goals are three-fold: for students to make a meaningful difference through service while gaining valuable real-world work experience, earning a wage, and where appropriate, receiving college credit; for faculty members and staff, through their work with students in the program, to have additional opportunities to apply their expertise to addressing many of the city’s key challenges; and for residents, communities, and project sponsors to realize concrete benefits as a result of CUNY Service Corps projects.

Theatreworks City Tech

Theatreworks City Tech

Theatreworks, the resident theatre company at New York City College of Technology, is composed of students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members. Founded in 1974, Theatreworks has been recognized in the media and theater circles for its commitment to professionalism in performance, technology and the advancement of multicultural casting and crews in plays, videos, musicals, dance and other events. This unique approach to theatre has given Theatreworks citywide recognition and an audience from the greater New York area. Theatreworks is now performing in the state-of-the-art Voorhees Theatre, where a haunted hotel, the Gravesend Inn, has opened each October to hundreds of spectators for over 13 years. Each spring semester a resident group is hosted on campus to work with the Theatreworks students. Student technicians receive valuable training by participating in the lighting, sound, costume, video, publicity and scenery crews for performances each year. Theatreworks alumni can be found in the professional theater, in television and concert venues, and working with many theater-related companies in their respective communities. Computer Information Association

The Computer is a student organization that provides a creative and safe learning environment where college students majoring in computer related courses and/or interested in computers and technology, work together with other students to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. The computer club plan and organize projects and activities with the purpose of enhance technical skills and knowledge outside the classrooms and develop team work skills and interpersonal communications among the club members. Members will learn to appreciate and enjoy a variety of software applications and technologies including such technologies as web design, programming, networks, video games design, phone application design and multimedia presentations.
