Today we are doing a writing workshop. Bring a hard copy of your thesis and arguments (homework assignment 4) to class with you today so that you can participate. The revised version is due on Wednesday before midnight on turnitin.com.Ā
Dear Class,
The school requires me to post midterm marks on Blackboard. The grades available are:
P: making satisfactory progress
N: needs improvement
SA: stopped attending
These scores are based on a calculation of the percentage of points you have earned on the total points available so far, to this point in the semester. This includes half of your participation grade for the year, half of your homework grade, and the midterm exam (which is now graded and will be returned on Monday). It does not include the grade for the annotated bibliography, which hasnāt been graded yet. Students who scored 70% and above in the course so far I marked as P, and students below that are marked as N.
These grades reflect your performance on only the 30% of the course that has been graded so far, so that means that 70% of the grade is still to be determined. If your grade is not where you want it, please note that there is still time to make major improvements.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and enjoy your weekend.
Best,
Dr. M
You can begin the midterm any time between 1 and 2:15pm today. You can see further instructions in the previous post here on Openlab.
The test will be available on Blackboard. You should receive an email announcement from Blackboard at 1pm that the test has opened, with a link to the test. Alternatively, you can navigate there yourself by going to BlackboardāContent.
I will be available via email at daniel.macdougall56[at]citytech.cuny.edu, and will also be physically present in the classroom, during the test. Let me know if you have questions, and best wishes for the exam.

Our Mid-term Exam is coming up next Monday, 10/16!!
The test will be 75 minutes long and will be administered on Blackboard. You should receive an announcement to your email at 2:30pm, when it becomes available. You can also find it under āContentā in Blackboard after 2:30pm.
The exam is open book and open notes. I recommend that you study carefully for it by filling out the study sheet ahead of time. Most of the questions require understanding concepts, not simply repeating answers from the study sheet.
Do NOT plagiarize from the internet. Utilizing answers from class materials and lectures is acceptable. Plagiarism from the internet is grounds for a zero score on the test.
You can start it any time within the normal class period (1-2:15pm) and will receive a full 75 minutes to take the test. It is possible to pause the test and come back later, but the clock will keep ticking and you only have 75 minutes total to take the test. You will not be able to resume after 2:15pm.
If you need a special exception you need to contact me. If for some reason you donāt contact me and also donāt take it at the appointed time, you will need a documented excuse (either medical or related to bereavement) for permission to take it at another time.
Donāt forget to download the review sheet and fill it out before the test! And let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Class–
Tomorrow during class we will go over the midterm review sheet. It is to your advantage to fill it out as completely as possible in preparation for tomorrow, when we go over it. We won’t have time to discuss all the questions, but we will have time to discuss any answers you aren’t able to find on your own.Ā

Dear Class,Ā
Groups and cases have been posted to Blackboard.Ā
To find the discussion board for your group (containing both your case and forum for sharing emails, determining group role, or whatever), in the Blackboard app go to: GroupsāDiscussion Board.

Dear Class,
CUNY administration has changed the academic calendar. As a result, we will not be meeting next Tuesday (9/26). We will not meet again after today until Wednesday (9/27). However, they did add a Tuesday meeting for Monday classes on Tuesday 10/10. Please note I have updated the course schedule to reflect these updates.
Best,
Dr. M
Dear Class,Ā

Iām Dr. MacDougall, your professor for Interdisciplinary Health Care Ethics (PHIL 2203ID). There are two things I want you to know before our first meeting on August 28.
1. Most of our written interactions, class updates and materials, are available on our OpenLab site. Please join our OpenLab section as soon as possible. You will be required to join in order to participate in online discussions. You can also see the schedule and assignments there.
2. This class is an Open Educational Resource (OER) course. That means there is no textbook, and all readings are freely available online. This saves you money and means you can store all our readings on your hard drive, indefinitely! You can find links to class readings on the schedule page.
Let me know if you have any questions. Iām looking forward to meeting you.
Dr. MacDougall
