RAB Proposal Paragraph- Ariana Dominguez

My research question is: Do women feel safe on the streets of New York?

This topic interests me because as a woman I don’t feel safe on the streets of New York. Every time I turn on my tv or go on social media there always a post on how a woman was attacked or was verbal harassed. I have been in many situations like this where I would get verbal harassed or in other words “catcalled”. I could be minding my own business heading to work when I hear a male voice by my ear say some inappropriate words. I just keep walking like it didn’t happen but it’s sad that as women we go through this on a daily. And I know I’m not the only one who goes though these disgusting verbal harassments. I see a lot of people say it’s because the way you dress but on the contrary, I can be wearing the baggiest clothes to do laundry and there always someone to comment on my appearance. Overall catcalling is terrifying because you never know what can happen it can sometimes just be verbal harassment or sometimes it can lead to physical harassment. Which is so unfair to women they constantly must live in fear not knowing if they’re going to be safe walking outside.

  1. Your sources are dated. Anything more current?

Please follow the proposal paragraph template more carefully.

I believe I helped you to reword this question better — please reword. YOur question is about safety and not catkilling or being harassed. So it’s not really what you want.

This might be old — — and I don’t know what this source is reliable or not — that would be your job — you can consider and examine — maybe it would give you some clues as to wording and finding more current sources: https://www.gothamgazette.com/index./city/6468-nearly-six-years-after-landmark-street-harassment-hearing-no-measureable-progress

Please work with a research librarian — remember you can stop in or make an appointment. It’s getting late so do it now!
