Writing Task Saved- Vanessa Marquez

Ever since I was little, I only spoke Spanish. When it was time for me to go to school., I had no idea what other kids or teachers were saying. It was just an English class. My mom asked them to transfer me to a bilingual class so that it will make it easier for me to learn English and to continue learning Spanish. It very well until 3rd grade. They said I should take more English courses. My mother agreed that I should learn more English. I didn’t really have an issue with that because throughout the bilingual classes they taught us how to read and write in English. Of course, there was still a lot more to learn but I was happy that I was learning a whole different language.

As elementary and middle school passed by, I only took English courses, no Spanish. When I went to high school, I met amazing people that wanted to travel to Europe, so we ended up traveling all over until we reached Spain. They weren’t so worried because they were, like Vanessa speak Spanish. Don’t get me wrong. I do, but not as fluently as I used to. I just know that it is beneficial to learn more than one language, they can come in handy one day.

  1. That’s so cool you were able to go on strip to Europe with your classmates in high school. I never got the chance to do that. Also you’re right about the languages becoming handy in the future. Even though we think it hard to start to learn a different language we just have to give it our best and not give up. Many careers in the future might require speaking more than one language anyway.
