“School before anything, its important.”

Those are the words my uncle repeats to me basically every single day. I would say my uncle is my mentor because he’s taught and shown me to never give up. no matter how difficult it gets. He’s also shown me to not let any situation get in the way of important things. Growing up he would tell me, “study hard, do what you love, have the lifestyle you want without having to struggle.” How hard he works and has the lifestyle he wants is what motivates me to work long hours and keep high grades. The most important thing I’ve learned from him is to never put excuses. If you want to make it happen, you will.

Living with him showed me to be grateful for the opportunities I have and nothing is handed to you, if you don’t work for it. He always mentions how proud he is of me but to also slow down sometimes. I love to hear that because it means I grew up the way he’d hoped and i’m doing things right. Even though sometimes it’s okay to make mistakes, I still don’t like to let anyone down because I know they worked very hard for me to have the life I have. Him considering me as his daughter and telling people how proud he is of me makes me happy because on the stressful days I remember it’s okay to take a break.
