“You did it, you just needed the support”
My fifth grade teacher told me this after she broke the news to me that I had passed the NY state mathematics exam which I had been working so hard on. My fifth grade math teacher pulled me out of class to tell me this news which made this moment so memorable to me. I can remember that feeling of relief I felt as soon as she told me I passed . After so many months of receiving bad results in my math tests and finally feeling relief since I passed was a weird feeling since I barely had experienced it. Majority of the year I was struggling with specifically math and my teacher noticed and put me into an online program where I would receive additional help. My math teacher was one of the only teachers who went above and beyond to make sure I understood what she was teaching.
I realized having a good environment when it comes to my education mattered a lot. When I study or do homework I need to be in an environment where other people are working as well. My teacher encouraged me in a way where I felt confident in my work as long as I pushed myself. My teacher would always tell me not to doubt myself because most of the time I am right. I always use her words of advice every time I take a quiz, test or a final exam. I make sure not to doubt myself and I always choose the first option I believe is right.
I always felt like I couldn’t rely on anyone. I always did things on my own. Its good to have support then and there. It motivates you even more
