Title: With The Opioid Crisis, Don’t Stop At Narcan By: Kristina V

Opening:

The title is effective because it gives us a clear idea about what’s going to be talked about. The introduction hooks the listeners in by telling us a fact about her topic and gives us background. This way you know exactly what’s going to be talked about.

Middle:

She then begins introducing the fire chief Ortiz to tell us about narcan and his personal experience with using narcan. Ortiz talks about how and why narcan is used against opioids referring to the opening remarks to stay in theme. He then keeps the listener’s attention by sharing his first time using narcan. The narrator begins sharing more facts and research to further show the problem and why statistics continue to increase. Providing this research helps the listener grasp a better understanding of the topic. While communicating with Ortiz throughout the podcast the narrator didn’t ask him questions directly which shows he was asked beforehand and had time to prepare what he was going to say. Before Ortiz spoke, we had the narrator tell us what he was going to be explaining and talking about. Ortiz participation didn’t feel like a conversation but more information to support the topic.

Outro:

After more facts and research, the narrator provides a solution and acknowledges the need to have more awareness of the opioid crisis. In this podcast it uses the rhetorical appeal logos by providing facts, research, and background information to inform the listeners. The podcast audience is the public but especially those who work around large groups of people. The message of the podcast is that the opioid crisis is growing bigger every day, and anyone can be affected therefore solutions other than just narcan need to be found.

Length- This podcast is 5 minutes long.

I will emulate the delivery of research and information from experts and professionals. I also liked the hook and that it was a clear statement that told me what the next 5 minutes was going to be about.
