Part A: From what Lamott has to say the writing is more so about the process rather than the product. Lamott argues that in order to have a good finishing product there must be a “Shitty First Draft”. That not one of the very great writers have written elegant first drafts. Lamott implies the first draft is where you can let all your thoughts out and fixing it on as you go onto your next drafts.
Part B: “I know some very great writers, writers you love who write beautifully and have made a great deal of money.” “Not one of them writes elegant first drafts.” I guess what Lamott is saying is that not even the very best writers can write great first drafts. Also, that writing an excellent piece of writing doesn’t happen within the first draft that it even takes the very best time to make other drafts for the finishing product.
Part C: I would say that the genre of this writing would be an informative narrative. I say this because Lamott talks about how she uses shitty first drafts in her own writing. Also, because she give information on how why shitty first drafts are very helpful to herself and others.
