Part A: From the reading I gathered that writing a first draft is more about the process than the product. Lamott speaks on how important the process of writing is and throughout the process you gain more knowledge to put towards your final draft. The first draft is very chaotic since it consists of unorganized thoughts and you can take some of these ideas and turn them great in the end. Being able to shape your first draft throughout the process creates good writing.
Part B: “The first draft is the down draft — you just get it down. The second draft is the up draft — you fix it up. You try to say what you have to say more accurately. And the third draft is the dental draft, where you check every tooth, to see if it’s loose or cramped or decayed” This quote means that the first draft is where you can put down your chaotic ideas/thoughts which allows you to have an idea of what your piece will be about. The second draft is where you reorganize and distinctively plan out whatever you wrote. As for the third draft you go through it to see if you need to add or fix simple mistakes.
Part C: This genre would be “informative narrative” since the writer is giving us advice throughout their experiences.
I agree with you, Jade. Writing is a process that can take a while to make. I also agree with your idea of what you think the quote means. Writing is something that we can not rush and have to check every small or big detail so it can become good. I also would agree with the genre’s informative narrative.
I strongly agree with your point that the chaos of the first draft can turn your final piece into something great. This is because finding weaknesses in your writing can only make it stronger.
I agree with you that throughout the process you gain more knowledge to put towards your final draft. I said that same thing that its an informative narrative writing because she talks about herself and other experiences.
