Tips for College Success- Vanessa Marquez

A tip id need to work on is Participation. Even though I go out with new friends, go to work and communicate with other people I sometimes get nervous to speak up. I know it is normal to get shy when talking to new people or trying to reach out to someone when you need help. I try every day to engage myself with others, I know that little by little it will givie me more courage to participate.

To this day I am not sure if my studying skills are the best. There is always a better way to approach something. This is another tip I feel like I need to improve. I need to step out of my comfort zone and test other ways that will benefit me while studying. Whenever there is something going on at work or at school, I take notes but not in a way that will help me later. I know that there are better wayss that will help me learn and improve faster.

  1. I liked these two college tips you chose because I also struggle with participation, and I get nervous when talking in class or talking to new people. I agree that there are many ways that we could use to learn something, we could try music or writing instead of typing.

  2.

Truth be told — me too! I had a hard time participating when I was in graduate class or with group of colleagues. Sometimes, I think everyone is smarter than me and I am scared to volunteer my thoughts. But after I find the courage to speak out, I usually find that other people felt the same way or they had things to add to my comment. So with practice I gained more confidence in sharing my voice in groups.
