Intro–Kaiulani Perez

My name is Kaiulani Perez, and I am majoring in radiology and medical imaging. My name is Hawaiian, and I was named after a Hawaiian princess Ka”iulani. My parents were going to name my older sister Kaiulani, but no one could pronounce it, so they picked another name. 5 years later when I came along Kaiulani came up again and they said that people will have to learn. I decided to major in radiology and medical imaging because of my interest in the medical field. My interest in the medical field sparked when I started watching the show “Greys Anatomy” and even though I know hospitals are not like the show it got me interested in helping people and radiology is needed to help and save people.  

I was born and raised in Brooklyn and grew up in a Spanish speaking household, but I do not speak Spanish myself and would like to learn. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and competing in competitions since I was 7. I went to a performing arts high school to major in dance and even though it is not my major in college I still enjoy dancing. I like to read in my down time, my favorite genre is romance and mystery because it takes my mind off everything going on around me. I also like to watch movies and rate them with my mom based off our strategic point system. My favorite movie is “Oceans 11” which is a move about 11 men robbing a casino in Vegas and over the summer my family and I went to Vegas to see all the places the movie took place.
