Hello, my name is Nael and I’m 18 years old. My career choice is to be a radiology technician. My ethnicity is Arab and I’m from Yemen. I was born in America but always visited Yemen frequently. My Arabic is not as good as my English but I can still read and talk but not very fluent.
This is Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. I’ve lived here for a total of 3 years. I was also taught Arabic by a teacher in Sanaa on Zoom when I was in America.
My favorite sport of all time is volleyball. I joined the high school volleyball team and made the playoffs but sadly lost. But recently me and my friends participate in pickup volleyball games every Wednesday which can get very competitive.
I also play a lot of video games. My favorite game currently is Rocket League. The game is basically like soccer but what makes it unique is you control a car to score. My brother got me into gaming which I’m very grateful for. Speaking of my brother, me and my brothers have rhyming names. My name is Nael and my two older brothers are named Hael and Wael. Yes, it does get very confusing.
Thanks for reading! I’m super excited to kick off this semester and can’t wait to get to know you all. Good luck everyone!
You play a variety of sports and games — great! I love this picture of Sanaa. Is this the capital of Yemen? What are the mountain range in the background and the palace or temple like building near the mountains? I am fascinated by the break buildings with rounded Arabic archways. I guess this is typical Arabic culture? Fantastic — thank you for sharing. I love learning about the different cultural backgrounds of my students. I wonder what it was like to go to school in Yemen for those three years? Maybe this could be something to write about for our first assignment the Education Narrative — we can talk more about this possibility.
I AM SORRY NAEL — BUT I INADVERNTENTLY REMOVED YOU FROM THE OPEN LAB CLASS BECAUSE I COULD NOT RECOGNIZE YOUR NAME AS A NAME ON MY ROSTER.
PLEASE RE-JOIN TO THE CLASS USING A NAME THAT I CAN RECOGNIZE. REMEMBER THESE WERE PART OF THE INSTRUCTIONS.
