Hey everyone,
My name is Derek Contreras. I’m 18 years old and a Capricorn. I was born and raised in The Bronx, New York. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Business and Technology of Fashion.
I would love for one day to be working behind the scenes of a runway show. I’ve always been passionate about fashion and how it allows people to express themselves through clothing, music, and art. For as long as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed dressing myself and making clothes for myself and others. My mom has always supported my choices in fashion, She is my biggest fashion inspiration. Both of my parents are from Mexico.
One other thing you should know about me is that I’m a huge plant dad—some people even say I have a green thumb. I have over 20 different plants in my room, and caring for them brings me so much joy. One day, I hope to own a plant shop as well. Where I can share my passion with others.
Hello there Derek! I’ve always wanted to visit Mexico. I heard great things about there, especially their food. I would like to ask what’s your favorite genre of music. Also is it easier to grow plants in your house or outside? I would need help with fashion since I’m not the greatest at it. Hope to see you in a future with a plant shop.

Thank you for your message! I do appreciate having living plants around me; they really bring a sense of calm and freshness. I don’t have a garden, but I do keep some plants on my window sill. I’d be happy to share some of my fashion designs with the class as well. Looking forward to it!
