RAB Proposal Paragraph (Updated*2) – Jonathan

My research question is: How does social media effect children’s lives? This topic interest me because I am growing up in a time where almost everyone uses social media and I have seen its effect on some people. Even my baby cousin was able to fully navigate from the homepage of a phone to her desired Youtube video around the same time she learned to walk. All this made me interested in what social media is doing to this to the new generations lives. I know that social media is addicting and very dangerous. I also know that despite there being an age limit on social media, most kids bypass that age limit and access platforms they shouldn’t have. Lastly I know that a lot of children are exposed to increased amounts of stress from social media. I want to find out how exactly are children different from before and after social media. I also wonder why is there not more security stopping children that shouldn’t be on social media that should not be on there. I also want to know what effect does cyberbullying on social media have on these children.

  1. Jonathan — this looks good! You diid a good job on this paragraph. I think this is an important topic and it is in the news now! Very glad to see this revised proposal. Your sources (news or feature and the op-ed) look ok. Have you found a third source yet? DId you have a chance to look and consider that NYT daily I gave you? And of course you can keep looking for other choices too.

Were you able to get that WaPo article? It might be good idea to print to PDF and save it bc WaPo might have a limit on the number of free reads they give you. Print it out while you can. Leana Wen is an important physician in the medical field who has served in public health and policy governmental positions. I have heard her talk on the news as a medical expert. Good job on finding that source!

    Good Work!

PS I hope you are happy with this changed RQ and that you feel energized about.
