RAB Proposal Paragraph – AJ

My research question is How is Gentrification effecting Black people? This topic interests me because as someone who grew up in a black majority neighborhood there wasn’t really any “High end” buildings in my neighborhood. You used to mostly see other Black people with their own Brownstones. Now if you look around you don’t really see any of that. Most of the people seem to get pushed out of the neighborhood from rent increases or sold their brownstones for undervalue. I already know that the rich are trying to change all the “ghetto” areas as well as remove a lot of historical things in neighborhoods. The rich would like to add just a whole bunch of high end condos in all these different neighborhoods that don’t even fit in. So things I want to look into are how Blacks feel about this Gentrification? What is their objective with this Gentrification? How will Everything turn out after this Gentrification?

  1. AJ: Can you revise for clearer language. For example: As well you mostly seen other Black people with their own Brownstones. —- Huh? Make that a clearly written sentence.

YOU MUST Use this example paragraph starter as a template for your RAB Proposal:

My research question is: ______? This topic interests me because ___. (good solid explanation, should be personal – 3 more sentences) I already know that ______. (3 more sentences). Some points that I plan to explore and find out more about are _________ (3 points).

Otherwise, I think this new RQ is good. I can see that you would have a personal interest. It’s related to the fact that amongst your African American friends, you are the only one who lives in a family owned brownstone home. And you have found some good NYT sources.
