“Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper”
When my dad told me this quote from the bible it stuck with me because there is a lot I’m going accomplish, but I cant do that being lazy. It was Right after summer, I had just flew back into the states and just missed the deadline to attend college in the fall. So I had about 4 months free, not really having nothing to do with that free time. So at this time I’ve been 18 for about for 4 months and didn’t really have nothing together. Then my dad hit me with that question “what do you plan to do with your life”?! because at this time I didn’t know if I should really go to college still.
Then a week passed and I was more level headed then stressed/ panicking on what I should do because, nobody wants to FAIL. So my I had my dad start really teaching me financials and how Real Estate actually works so I could have some insight on the profession. Then as time progressed I knew what the game plan was going to be, because my Dad was always the type to not just give me and my sister things we would have to work for it. So I decided that I will still pursue architecture because I do really have a passion for it and me and my Dad would be able to work together, but while I’m in school I will do my investing and he will help me through it giving me wisdom.
That’s great AJ. Being lazy isn’t going to get you anywhere, the point of life is to move forward not stay in one place. I’m happy to hear your dad say such motivating words and the Bible for it as well. Keep moving forward.
I could relate to you because the summer after I graduated highschool I went to my parents home town in Montenegro. When i came back the deadlines for Fall semester registration were coming up, some had passed, and i had clue what to do. In the end i was unable to attend due to vaccine requirements, so i spent my time off of school working five to six days a week, and most importantly figuring out what id like to do. I finally decided that college was the move for me in order to keep up and help me learn.
Ok — this is a good start!
Now if you decide to go forward with this writing prompt — you need to add in some details and descriptions. (Think about how Malcolm X described his scene of reading in the hallway light of his prison cell.) Where — name your home country — were you coming back from? When did your dad say these words to you? Can you turn the second paragraph into a scene? (like a theatre scene). Reach back into your memory and create a scene. Were you and your dad sitting at the table? WHere? How did he get you interested in real estate and finance? What did he say to you? What were you thinking? Did this time with your dad motivate you? Make you realize that “nobody wants to FAIL”? Did you at that time thinik that your not-being-in-school was a failure? SHOW your reader the moment you realized you could not be lazy any more? AND What were you doing in these 4 months? You say you were being lazy? So show me what being lazy was at that moment in your life.
Have these words in your quote continued to motivate you? Can you show me other situations in your educational life when these words echoed in your mind?
