The OpenLab is an open-source, digital platform designed to support teaching and learning at City Tech (New York City College of Technology), and to promote student and faculty engagement in the intellectual and social life of the college community.
What I took away from class discussion today was mainly the concept of the grid. It was something that seemed intuitive but now I understand that it is a concrete idea and not just random. It also reminded me that I can carry my lines from plan to elevation & section, which I had forgotten about since last semester.
I now understand the grid system from which buildings are constructed and planned out from, however I never truly appreciated it. It wasn’t until the Federal Hall trip when I realized the relationship between the enclosure system and support system within a building.
