Analysis and critical understanding of selected plays. Exams and essays based on readings. Students interpret dramatic texts using various theoretical concepts common to literary analysis in general, and to dramatic analysis more specifically. Students also explore the various dramatic forms (tragedy, realism, various styles of anti-realism, ensemble theater, performance art) of several historical periods and their relationship to one another.
