Professor Kan, Fall 2023

Author: Bruce Kan (Page 4 of 5)

OpenLab Assignment #3, Due Thursday, 9/28, 10am

Answer these questions honestly and in detail. I am reading them, but the questions and answers are as much for you as they are for me. This assignment must be done in order to get credit for your exam corrections.

1) Are you satisfied with your performance on Exam #1?  Explain why or why not.

2) What did you do to prepare for the first exam.  Do you think it was effective?

3) What do you think you can do to improve?

4) On a scale of 1-10, how serious are you about taking the necessary steps to graduate from college with a degree?  Do you think your actions over the past month accurately reflect this number?

5) What can Professor Kan do to improve instruction?

Upload your answers to these questions into our Dropbox folder. Name the file as:

lastname firstinitial date assignment03

You can upload this in any format you like. Microsoft Word or pdf file is preferred.

Exam 1, Tuesday 9/19/2023 and OpenLab Assignment #2, due Thursday 9/14/2023.

Exam 1 was scheduled for this Thursday, but I’m pushing it back by 1 class to make sure we cover everything.

For OpenLab Assignment #2,

  • Watch this video.
  • Download the worksheet here and answer the questions.
  • You can print out the sheet and answer the questions directly there, or you can write your answers on a separate piece of paper. You do not need to rewrite the questions themselves. Submit your work by uploading to Dropbox. Follow the steps on this video to upload as a pdf (multi-page if necessary), and rename the file accordingly: lastnamefirstinitialdateassignment02.pdf
  • This assignment is due Thursday 9/14 at 10am. We will be discussing this topic so it is important that you watch the video and do the assignment before class!

Join this Course

If you’re new to the OpenLab, follow these instructions to create an account and then join the course. You must use your City Tech email to join and verify your account on OpenLab.

Joining OpenLab and becoming a member of this course are 2 different things! Think of it as creating a login for Instagram (ie. joining OpenLab) and then choosing to Follow someone (ie. becoming a member of MAT1272 D081).

Click here, and then click on the “+” next to “Join Now” underneath Foghorn Leghorn. FYI, this is a stock image. The image for our class could be different.

Remember that your username and display name can be pseudonyms, rather than your real name. Your avatar does not need to be a picture of your face–just something that identifies you on the OpenLab.

Activate your CUNYFirst Account

If your CUNYFirst account is not activated, go here and click “Claim your CUNYFirst account.” CUNYFirst gives you access to Blackboard and Dropbox, both of which will be used for this class, and probably your other classes as well.
