My future goals for teaching at City Tech center on my expertise and interest in urban design and housing. I have developed a strong series of assignments for teaching urban design, and have integrated both seminal readings as well as interdisciplinary teaching modules. I believe this is my unique strength within the department and an important skill and experience to share with our students. This studio work can be built over a number of years into an academic service learning service to local communities that need urban design to help solve local problems. Our students thrive in “live project” environments, generating a win-win for the students and the community. My experience with academic services learning and place-based learning provide me with a strong basis for this teaching.
