This event was a follow-up to the Rethinking Jay Street Symposium I helped organize at City Tech in October 2014. The event was co-sponsored and held at the Brooklyn Historical Society. At this event, Prof. Michael Duddy and I presented an overview of the impacts of the re-zoning of Downtown Brooklyn in 2004 including documenting all the major projects in the last 10 years and analysis of the horizontal development changes and conditions of Downtown Brooklyn. This presentation was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Benjamin Shepard, from the Human Services Department, with representatives from Forest City, the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, City Tech, and Make Brooklyn Safer. This group represented development, business and planning advocacy, an academic view of urban planning, and community advocacy with a focus on safe streets.
