Illustration Work

I did these three illustrations for a poster project we were working on in my Digital Media Foundations class. The theme I chose for my poster was “Save The Rainforest, Protect The Wildlife.” We were instructed to create or find an image and integrate a QR code with it in someway. The QR code on the final poster must be functional and lead to a website relevant to the image. I ultimately went with the frog and made a poster from that one.

Here is a close-up drawing I did of a photo of lips and teeth. This was personal work I did outside of school. I was practicing hyper-realistic drawing techniques which was really a challenge for me but I had fun with it.

This was one of my most ambitious drawings. I drew this one of Chadwick Boseman for a final project in a Foundation Drawing class. I used techniques I learned in class over that semester along with techniques I learned from doing personal projects like the lips.

Below is a drawing I did for a Figure Drawing class Fall semester 2023. I put a lot of effort into this one as I really enjoyed the process. This marks a transition in my illustration work. This was the first drawing I’ve ever done where it was completely done in charcoal only and I wont be turning back.

Below is a project I did for a potential internship where I was asked to redesign the cover of my favorite book and why I thought it communicated better this way. I chose The Autobiography of Malcolm X. This was my process.

As far as technical skill goes, I think I’ve come a long way illustration wise. This project really pushed me to challenge myself a bit more and be extra meticulous with this one. When I was done with the drawing, I cut it out in photoshop and incorporated it into the new book cover design. I think the choice of typography and placement present well together with the imagery.
