Here I am going to talk about what motivated me to become a dental hygienist. I chose dental hygiene as a career because I want to make a positive impact on peoples health. My goal is to help people feel confident when they smile. I feel that my past experiences volunteering to help people in need influenced my decision to choose a career that helps to improve the lives of people.
I am from Ecuador, I came to this country four years ago, and my first job was as a front desk in a dental office. My boss advised me to follow a career in dental hygiene. I immediately knew this was what I wanted to do. However, I was told that it would be very challenging and that I would have to stop working to focus on my studies. I decided to have two jobs to save money. I used to work Monday to Sunday, The morning in a dental office and evenings in McDonalds. It was very hard, but it was worth it.
This portfolio was created to document my accomplishments on my path to becoming a RDH. This valuable resource will acquaint you with my clinical capacity of care.
