Visual Quotes Project: Where Do We Go From Here~ Asking Alexandria

For my visual quotes project, I picked the lyrics from the song “Where Do We Go?” from the British rock band Asking Alexandria, one of my all-time favorite bands. The lyrics go “Where do we go from here? I don’t wanna say goodbye yet”. The reason why I picked this quote is because before the semester started, I was in Europe for 3 weeks and Asking Alexandria just dropped their new album “Where Do We Go From Here”, and when I heard that last song, I got instant nostalgia. I was having a good time in Europe enjoying the many different cities and people. I didn’t want to come back to the states because I knew it was back to reality and being my last semester, I know my life is going to change after college. I’m always looking forward to the future but there’s a part of me that is scared because of past events and changes that I don’t know what to expect. So, this song is helping me throughout this semester and also this is a band that I’ve been listening to for 10 years, so they’ve always been a part of my life.

When I chose the quote, I had to come up with ideas on how I want it on paper so I made some sketches that where just 3 different ideas on how I would want it formatted. Then I got inspired by the UCLA Master Cover image by Fa Pash in where they took a photo of a sunset in Los Angeles with palm trees and a beautiful pink sunset. I went out to my favorite park in Queens Little Bay Park where its right by the water and there is a bridge from a distance, i got there just as the sun was setting and took one of my favorite pictures of everything which looked astonishing. I also used a photo I took when I was in a beach in Rome, Italy where I took a picture of the sun setting and the water and that is also a beautiful image. I recently saw Asking Alexandria at a concert they did on September 11 in Manhattan, and I took a photo of the front man/singer Danny Worsnop of him singing and I was really close because I was on the barricade. On all those images I put the quote in the picture and credited the band for the lyrics, I used different fonts on all the images. I like all the images with the quote as they are perfect in their own way but the one with the front man singing and the lyrics on top makes it look like a classic fan edit from back in the days of the band, I feel like a part of the bands history making this art inspired by them.

Logo History: Twisted Tea

Twisted Tea is an American alcoholic malt beverage that is delicious and enjoyed by many around the states. It comes in its original tea flavor, half and half with lemonade, peach, and raspberry. Those can be found in its original 12 packs of cans or bottles, as of right now they have 15 flavors in total like mango, pineapple, blueberry and more in tall cans. Twisted Tea began in 2001 by “the Boston Beer Company actually launched Twisted Tea way back in 2001. The original flavor was the brand’s take on a Southern sweet tea with a twist of lemon — though the brand has since expanded its product line” (Vinepair.com). It’s been around for quite some time but in 2020 it went viral as a man used a “tallboy” can of Twisted Tea to smack another man in the face with it after he was yelling racist slurs. From that incident that video would be shared and be made into memes talking about using Twisted Tea as a weapon. According to “Mashed.com” it states “In July 2021, Truly and Twisted Tea accounted for 84% of the total volume for Boston Beer, while the classic Sam Adams Boston Lager only made up less than 8 percent of the company’s volume” (Mashed.com). Although the brand has been around for 21 years now it has only had 1 logo change since then from the original one made in 2001 and to the one that it is currently known for and it a little more vibrant than the original one.

UCLA Master Cover Fa Pash

I chose this UCLA master cover because I really like the picture that it shows that it is in LA. You can see the palm trees that create leading lines as it points to one direction and creates a shallow depth of field. This image inspired me to change the direction of my visual quote project to use my own image of a beautiful background or landscape and put my quote on it.
