Visual Quotes Project: Where Do We Go From Here~ Asking Alexandria

For my visual quotes project, I picked the lyrics from the song “Where Do We Go?” from the British rock band Asking Alexandria, one of my all-time favorite bands. The lyrics go “Where do we go from here? I don’t wanna say goodbye yet”. The reason why I picked this quote is because before the semester started, I was in Europe for 3 weeks and Asking Alexandria just dropped their new album “Where Do We Go From Here”, and when I heard that last song, I got instant nostalgia. I was having a good time in Europe enjoying the many different cities and people. I didn’t want to come back to the states because I knew it was back to reality and being my last semester, I know my life is going to change after college. I’m always looking forward to the future but there’s a part of me that is scared because of past events and changes that I don’t know what to expect. So, this song is helping me throughout this semester and also this is a band that I’ve been listening to for 10 years, so they’ve always been a part of my life.

When I chose the quote, I had to come up with ideas on how I want it on paper so I made some sketches that where just 3 different ideas on how I would want it formatted. Then I got inspired by the UCLA Master Cover image by Fa Pash in where they took a photo of a sunset in Los Angeles with palm trees and a beautiful pink sunset. I went out to my favorite park in Queens Little Bay Park where its right by the water and there is a bridge from a distance, i got there just as the sun was setting and took one of my favorite pictures of everything which looked astonishing. I also used a photo I took when I was in a beach in Rome, Italy where I took a picture of the sun setting and the water and that is also a beautiful image. I recently saw Asking Alexandria at a concert they did on September 11 in Manhattan, and I took a photo of the front man/singer Danny Worsnop of him singing and I was really close because I was on the barricade. On all those images I put the quote in the picture and credited the band for the lyrics, I used different fonts on all the images. I like all the images with the quote as they are perfect in their own way but the one with the front man singing and the lyrics on top makes it look like a classic fan edit from back in the days of the band, I feel like a part of the bands history making this art inspired by them.
