Lab Report Week 1:Introduction to Blender and Basic 3D Terms

Lab Report

Introduction to 3D Software Terminology
Week 1, (1/31) – Create Study Guide
Objective – My goal was to define as many terms as possible in my own words.   I tried not to look things up on line.
Method – Discussion with classmates, some on line  research, prior knowledge
Materials – Computer, web browser, 3d software, and text editing software.

RESULTS
•    XYZ Axes (Cartesian Coordinate System)

•     Axis-a straight line about which a body or geometric object rotates or may be conceived to rotate
•     X – usually red, horizontal left to right
•     Y – usually green, points upwards and represent the vertical, i.e. top to       bottom
•     Z – usually blue, near to far (points to the viewer)

•     Transform – manipulate

•     translate – taking from one point to another
•     rotate – turn on an axis
•     scale – manipulate the size

•      Point/Vertex – where the edges meet
•      Line/Edge –  the connection between two point
•      Surface/poly – any face or body of a thing
•      Mesh – a collection of vertices, edges and faces that
defines the shape of a polyhedral object

•    Object – anything that exists in a 3D world except the light source

they can have multiple meshes
