To continue my talks about smartphones, this week I will focus on the software aspect. I will be focusing on the Android software and it’s pros and cons.
First off, the Android software that can be found on numerous devices made by Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and others, was not originally created by Google. In fact, it was created by another group of people (Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears, and Chris White), who started a company called Android, Inc in 2003. In 2005, Google being Google, bought them out in 2005, and that’s how the Android software some of us have come to use on a daily base was started.
Now to the pros and cons.
Pros:
- Open source
- Customizable – through apps or coding (if you know what you are doing)
- Available on many devices
Cons:
- Fragmented
- Prone to viruses/malware
I am sure there are other pros and cons but I can’t think of anything else.
To join the random item in weekly journal post bandwagon, here is mine:
Another Pro is multiple appstores without it having to be rooted also most phones allow sd cards unlike that fruit company that shall not be named. Men they make me mad.
this is true. and one perk of the amazon app store, is that they offer a free app each day.
and how many of those free apps are actually worth a damn. Im not saying there haven’t been winners, just dont get blinded by the word FREE.
depending on the users needs, the free apps could be good. half the time, the paid apps just remove the ads.
They’re called ‘Apple’. Having an android this kind intrigued me….
